Music has the power to connect people, transcending boundaries and bringing communities together.  In many towns, the formation of local music groups can inspire the younger generation to explore the world of instruments and various music genres.  One such initiative is the Cadillac Community Big Band, where teachers and musicians unite to create an environment that fosters a love for music and encourages youth participation.

Part of our mission statement at Jam and Bread is music education and there is not a better example than the Big Band.  Current and Former band and orchestra teachers coming together as part of a vision by Dan Wilson, a one time jazz band student and former mentor at Jam and Bread.  When an opportunity arouse to gather and practice it took no time at all to assemble a group of musicians with over 100 years of musical education experience.   While it is a dream team of teachers, that is not what the purpose of the CCBB is.  The purpose is to inspire.  To watch our friends, colleagues and mentors do what they love.  That is the lesson pure and simple.  The joy on the musicians faces, shows exactly why they do what they do.  This is their moment to shine, with no expectations except for the joy of performing. And our community is all the better for it.

The Cadillac Community Big Band makes its debut performance on August 28th, at the Cadillac Rotary Pavilion.  Their first concert is September 20 and tickets are available here.  100% of the proceeds from all CCBB events will benefit youth education in the Cadillac Community.
